ARTIST STATEMENT
Olguin Tapia’s paintings and sculptures deal with the essence of his everyday memories in his life and the ideology
of never forgetting what his grandfather who passed away once told him, “Remember who you are and never forget where you came from.” With such words, Olguin tries to develop work that attempt to recreate and interpret those
memories that shaped him to be who he is today. His work consists of acrylic, oil and water color paints
juxtaposed with found objects like cardboard, metal, wood, plastic, dirty clothes and others similar ready-made
items that convey a strong atmosphere with interesting shapes and patterns.
